Welcome to our Church

The church of St Wulfram is one of seven parish churches in the old Saxon town of Grantham, Lincolnshire. It is part of the Deanery of Grantham, within the Diocese of Lincoln, which in turn is part of the Province of Canterbury in the United Kingdom.

We welcome all visitors to share with us the beauty and grandeur of this building. We are glad to see the church fulfilling its ancient purpose, to be not only a house of prayer, dedicated to the worship of God but also a meeting place for the people of the town and for pilgrims, travellers, and strangers.

St Wulfram's is used regularly for great and small acts of worship. It is the centre of a living Christian presence, serving God and the people of the town, as it has done through the ages.

The church is a wonderful building. The carved stone heads above the pillars and on the exterior walls are faces of ordinary people. Some are comical; others are grotesque! They remind us that this place has been loved and prayed in by people like ourselves down the centuries, "a great cloud of witnesses". Why not take a moment to view the inside of our fine church?

We are also committed to working closely with our fellow Christians in the town. If we can help to put you in touch with one of the churches, we shall be only too glad to do so. You will also find a selection of these churches and contacts on the website.

If you pray, please pray for us here at St Wulfram's and we will pray for you as we journey through life. If you are in the area, then please come and visit us. For more details on the buildings and opening times, please visit the buildings link.

O Lord God from whom we come
In whom we are enfolded
To whom we shall return,
Bless us in our pilgrimage through life,
With the power of the Father protecting,
With the love of Jesus indwelling,
And the light of the Spirit guiding,
Until we come out ending
In life and love eternal.

The Pilgrimage Prayer
as used by Bishop Peter Nott in his journey round his Diocese of Norwich in 1996
